The winter surf season is upon us and it is time to get your skills dialed in and bring your fitness to the next level. Whether you’re preparing for a destination surf adventure or the big winter swells here in SoCal, dry-land training is a must in order to be successful in the larger, more powerful winter swells. We’ve been training our local EZIAN groms the last couple months for not only their school surf competitions but also for trips to Tavarua and Kauai. Our neighborhood aspiring pro Derek has been working his butt off in our x-train classes to prepare for a month of charging the 7 mile miracle, otherwise known as the North Shore of Oahu. By utilizing high intensity body-weight training, plyometrics, balance/weight displacement drills and core strength/flexibility exercises we are preparing our surfers to handle the higher demands of the powerful swells the Pacific blesses us with in the winter months. These surf-specific workouts can enhance your performance in larger surf, increase your paddling strength/endurance and reduce the risk of injury. And since most of us coaches are surfers too and practice what we preach, you’ll likely find us training the same way!

I am looking for a yoga and workout class for my 16 yr.old daughter that will specificlly help her with her surfing and also that will address her issue with a fractured tailbone that sometimes bothers her. She wants to go Pro with her surfing and is currently doing WsA Gatorade and Prime events. She is in 1st place in Women’s Open and G U18 SB and in 7th in Prime. I was going to look at DCS for her to train in San Clemente but would rather stick to this area, since we live here! Do you have a class thatt is primarily, just for surfers? Also, she wants to do hot yoga to get her more limber.
Thank you/
Betsy Dean ( Danny Dean’s mom)
Betsy, we apologize for the delayed reply. We would love to have Danny come try out a surf specific workout. I just sent you a direct email, feel free to reply to that directly. Hope to meet you both soon!
