Friday night @ EZIA…

This tire is one of my favorite things in the world.  Today I set it up in a 4 step circuit:

1) flip it 5 times

2) jump in and out of it 10 times

3) flip it 5 times back to the start

4) hit it 10 times with a sleg hammer

The day after doing this in a work out I feel like I raced a motocross race, it’s awesome! Thanks to Ryan and Andrew for being my models in the photos, and thanks for checking out my blog!

Exercise…Pain-Free!!!!

After returning home from a wonderful vacation in Maui, it occurred to me that while on vacation, I had a discussion with every one of my family members about being in pain while exercising…even my 20 year-old brother! This got my wheels going, and forced me to explore this unsettling question…Why are so many people in pain while they workout??!!

Although I wish I could say all of my clients experience exercise pain-free, that’s simply not the case. Due to many circumstances–some beyond our control and some not–our bodies over the years develop imbalances, injuries occur, and the breakdown of our joint integrity begins. In my experience working with clients of all ages, 14-65, pain is always the common denominator. With this said, I have had to get creative, dig deep, and do my best to discover where the pain is coming from and why.

I strongly feel as though we live in a society that focuses mainly on the symptoms of our aches and pains, and not the CAUSE. If we can’t discover WHY your rotator-cuff tendon tore in the first place, or WHY your lower-back spasms whenever you try activate your transverse abdominus, we will never discover the root of the problem. Cortisone shots, muscle relaxers, massages, deep tissue therapy…these things often just mask the pain and trick your body into thinking “it’s all better”. In reality, the human body is A LOT more complex than we think it is, and sometimes has a very confusing way of communicating pain.

If you are unable to get through a workout pain-free, and would like to start doing so NOW…feel free to schedule a private coaching session with myself. Through a series of muscle and range of motion tests, I am confident we can start putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

Stay tuned for some video clips on some abdominal exercises that will make you say good-bye back pain…hello pain-free exercise!

Activate your potential,

Katelyn
